Happy Birthday, Nick! (UAN Free for 24h + New Game News!)

Happy Birthday, Nicholas Torres! How old are you now?

...Probably best not to ask.

Today (March 11) marks Nick's annual circling of the sun. To celebrate, everyone is encouraged to grab their FREE copy of UAN from 12am - 11:59pm PST. In case you're bad at math like our dev team, that's a 100% discount; or $0.00 marked down from the usual $6.99.

In addition to Nick's birthday shenanigans, we have an exciting update regarding our newest upcoming project, Occult Mingle!

Occult Mingle is a queer horror visual novel/dating sim in which you connect and chat with four supernatural enthusiasts. The page is currently restricted, but we're giving all our fiendish followers a first look at the content and character CGs. The game is currently in production with an anticipated Q2 2024 release (so soon!).

You can also wishlist the game on Steam.

While we plan to release Occult Mingle for FREE, we are also running a Kickstarter to fund full voice acting for the game. The page is currently in pre-launch, but slamming that 'notify on launch' button does wonders for our small team. Of course we'll be posting a second update once the page is live.

Production on Remnants of Dawn continues, though we've elected to push it back for the time being, to focus on bringing you more free, high-quality visual novel content. We plan to continue production after Occult Mingle is complete.

Keep your eyes open for even more to come, and as always...

Stay Fiendish!

I just barely missed getting UAN for free on Itch.io, me sad.  I have a version of UAN on Steam, but I thought it would be cool to have an itch.io version of it too.  But I just missed it.  Oh well, it happens.

Anyways, happy birthday, Nick!  I love u so much.  I hope to see u  go through the winger again even more in UAN 2:  Remnants of Dawn (well, that is probably given since he is one of the main suspects to be like, a serial killer, and this is Nick, sooooo...).  Though I am also hoping he finally gets some happiness and/or a happy ending, because God knows he needs deserves that/those things.

I am a bit disappointed about UAN:  Remnants of Dawn being pushed back from releasing next month (April), because that probably had been my most-anticipated release from u guys (I got into ur studio through UAN 1 and loved it and later Rumination very much.  And I am loving Daybreak a lot too).  So I have been very excited for UAN 2:  Remnants of Dawn.  Plus, there is/was so much stuff that I am looking forward to releasing in April, including this game, so that is just something cool for me.  But April is still jam-packed for me, even w/o UAN 2:  ROD.

Anyways yeah, I am a bit disappointed about UAN 2:  ROD not coming out next month.  However!  I have already waited for it, I can wait some longer for it.

Plus, Occult Mingle looks so fun!  I like it seeming to be a more of mixture of modern/urban and supernatural, horror, mystery, and/or etc. like ur UAN games.  And it just sounds interesting in general.  Like, having a kind of text/social media/something like that format or something, I like for the VN, because of u being in a kind of a chat room (where weird stuff starts to go on) for supernatural enthusiasts.  It being a dating sim.  Plus, all the other elements I (and u) mentioned it having.  It just looks so cool!  And it is going to be free too (probably)!!  And coming out soon/Q2 probably.  And it might get full VA (man, I would love some of ur VN's to get VA; partial or Full.  Though, they are still great w/o that) too.  Nice!  Basically very much excited for Occult Mingle; it will defin. tide me over until UAN 2:  ROD comes out, hahaha.

Thanks for the update; have a nice day/night!

Hi, DarkStarHades,

Thank you so much for the ongoing support! We're sorry you missed the free Up All Night day, but tell you what... why don't you shoot an email to fiendishfiction@gmail.com and we'll hook you up with a game code so you can own the itch.io version? You've been a long-time supporter of ours, so we feel you deserve it. :)

We're sorry about pushing Remnants of Dawn back... we're disappointed about it too, but it's not without reason, of course. We are still working hard to establish ourselves, and our hope is that Occult Mingle will generate more interest in our small studio, and the free release will get more eyes and enthusiasm on our games, including the upcoming RoD.

Occult Mingle is shaping up to be a lot of fun. Quite different from all of our games thus-far, but it will still have plenty of the supernatural/horror elements our studio is known for. And yes, it will be completely free! Hopefully we raise enough funds for full voice acting, but even if we don't we are confident Occult Mingle will be a quality game.

Thanks again!

Oh thank you so much!  And I am happy to  keep supporting u guys!!

It makes (even more) sense why u want to do Occult Mingle first then, in that case.  And even more excited for Occult Mingle, and I do hope it gets full VA, but I am still excited for it either way, and I am sure it will be a quality  game either way too.

And excited for RoD after OM, which I will keep patiently waiting for.  I am sure both games will turn out great!

Thank you so much for the reply.  :)

I am sorry, I am having a bit of trouble find ur email, do you know where I can find it?  Or just what it is?

The email should just be fiendishfiction@gmail.com! If you're having trouble, you can also try emailing johan.faulstich@gmail.com (that's me!), or hitting me up on discord by friending/sending a message to me at username SexBomb. Let me know if you're still struggling!

Thank you!

Ceri here!

Wowza, that's a lot of new content coming~! Occult Mingle looks cool and I'm curious to see what else the plot will entail aside from its' genteral premise. I understand that RoD will have to go on the backburner for OcMin to be completed first. Nonetheless, I know that the final products will be up to your and players' standards!

Anyway, Indie horror game recs because I orbit around them daily (and as someone who's recently become a Silent Hill enthusiast):

Signalis (Survival horror/puzzle PS1-style heavily inspired by Resident Evil (mechanics-wise) and Silent Hill (story, atmosphere and puzzle-wise) with endings tied to your playstyle + a secret conclusion accessible via second playthroughs)

Killer Frequency (Murder-mystery/puzzle/reverse survival horror where you're a radio DJ helping potential victims survive a serial killer over the course of one very fateful night)

The Tartarus Key (Puzzle/adventure PS1-style horror about finding a way out of a Saw-esque booby trapped mansion. Comes with great comedy and atmosphere)

Fear the Spotlight (Survival horror/puzzle PS1-style game about uncovering the truth behind a fire that destroyed a high school's theater building)

Lies of P (Dark fantasy/sci-fi Souls-like RPG that retells The Adventures of Pinocchio in a Belle Epoche world where mechanical puppets powered by strange crystals have become hostile to their human creators. Don't know if anyone in the FF team is into Souls-likes but just thought I'd suggest this anyway. The fandom's hilariously obsessed about the pretty boy automaton protagonist and I say this as someone who's actually in said fandom and has massive amounts of LoP fan art on her blog)

Teleforum (Horror mystery visual novel following a camera man and his colleague interviewing the widow of a recently deceased co-worker regarding the strange circumstances surrounding her husband's death)

Hollow Cocoon (Survival horror/puzzle; inspired by the trifecta of PS2 J-horror cult classics (Kuon, Siren and Fatal Frame))

Reveil (Psychological horror/puzzle; delves into a circus manager searching for his missing wife and daughter through increasingly surreal environments)

Indie games in production/releasing in the near future to wait on for:

Still Wakes The Deep (Spring 2024; survival horror set aboard an oil rig off the coast of Scotland during the mid-1970s)

Hollowbody (Q1-Q2 024; tech noir survival horror inspired by PS2 survival horror classics set in a dystopic near-future Britain)

Post Trauma (Spring 2024; psychological/survival horror that pays due respects to the likes of SH4: The Room where a middle aged train conductor must find a way out of an eerie surreal realm to return to his world)

Bye Sweet Carole (2024; dark fantasy hand drawn/animated puzzle platformer inspired by classic Disney movies and Clock Tower)

Sorry, We're Closed (a la mode games) (2024; A cool, queer homage to PS1 survival horror classics with a funky art direction and a veritable cast of unusual characters to get to know)

Slitterhead (TBD; from the man who gave PS1 players the very first Silent Hill game)

No Return (BlameTech) (TBD; psychological thriller-horror that got influenced from P.T. and Devotion)

Leak (Black Point) (TBD; psychological horror with survival elements that has the distinct premise of a former water-testing facility worker searching for his missing family and why a sinister corporation that recently acquired his former place of occupation may have a major role in the disappearances of his wife and son)

Hi Ceri,

Thank you so much for your ongoing support in all our endeavours. You were one of our first followers, and it always brings a smile to our faces to see you comment on our projects.

We're hoping Occult Mingle will continue to bring attention and revenue to our studio (even though it will be free), so we can progress production on Remnants of Dawn. As it stands we are still working on RoD, but production has slowed, with most of our team holding full-time jobs or doing other freelance work. We're not sure what the new timeline for release looks like just yet, but we're definitely still working on it!

Thank you for another good selection of indie horror recommendations! Some of them we are familiar with, others we've never even heard of. Will definitely be checking thee out, and wishlisting plenty. Signalis and Killer Frequency have definitely been a few we want to check out... Will have to do more thorough research later this evening.

Thanks again!
